F/V Sandy B

 

Sailing from our docks located in Gloucester, Massachusetts, the Sandy B is large, solid and safe. Launched in 2009, the Sandy B is a 37 Foot Duffy Hull and top finished by Cape Island Boats. Cape Island is known for building a great boat, and they certainly built a great boat for us. 

 

Details:

The F\V Sandy B II was custom built in the year 2009 to Capt. Bluefin's specifications. She is powered by a 715 HP Cummins all electronic diesel with ZF marine gear. Throttle and shifting are Glendenning "fly by wire" controls. The wheelhouse is literall crammed with electronics. There is plenty of seating in the wheelhouse for those rainy days. Below in the fo'c'sle  we have four bunks for those extended overnight trips.

Our large rear deck has a big fishbox for icing down the catch. LD Marine Products rod holders line the gunwales. We use LD's 22 foot outriggers for trolling striper and tuna.  THe back deck also has a set of Glendenning electronic controls for running the boat while "hooked up".

 

Electronics

The fishing vessel Sandy B is equipped with a host of advanced electronics. We went with the largest Northstar display we could fit on the dashboard. Integrated into the Northstar are the gps, fishfinder, and digital radar. The Northstar is fitted with high resolution navigation and bathymetric charts. We have interfaced our autopilot,radio, engine management system and LCD to the Northstar as well. Redundancy has always been important. Backup navigation consists of our furuno gps interfaced to a 17 inch Laptop. Of course the laptop is also equipped with the latest navigation and bathymetric charts.

 

You will find the Sandy B to be an extremely modern, high tech charter fishing vessel. She is a comfortable boat with kindly manners in a bad sea. We absolutely LOVE our new boat.
